DESCRIPTION:On MONDAY JUNE 8\,  6:30pm at the Shaw Auditorium in the Vancouver Island Conference Center; Nanaimo City Council will be hosting a Special Governance & Priorities Committee Meeting on the need for Gov’t supported Recovery Oriented Housing.\n\nCouncil has unanimously and repeatedly requested (dry) recovery oriented housing to the Minister of Housing Christine Boyle. Her response was “PROVE THE NEED”.\n\nThe format is for 6 presenters from various local professions to advocate for the need\, followed by delegates from the public that can sign up online starting Wednesday June 3 at noon (when the agenda is posted) until Friday June 5 at 11am (the cut off). The Agenda will be posted here https://www.nanaimo.ca/your-government/city-council/council-meetings/meeting-documents-and-videos\n\nThe proposed site is at 250 Terminal Avenue which has been home to the notorious temporary supportive housing trailers since December 2018.\n\nThe objective is to the fill the Auditorium and the Lobby (there are screens for viewing) as a show of support for the Recovery Community and the desperate need for dry housing.\n\nLet’s spread the word\, fill it up and save some lives!\nTo partcipate as a speaker please contact michael@madechmortgage.com
