District 7 Service Committee

District Committee Member
The District Committee Member (DCM) is elected by the District to serve a two-year term and is a voting member of the Area Committee. An essential link between the GSR and AREA who also responsible for the maintenance of district records and facilitates monthly district meetings.
Qualifications:
● Has previously served as a GSR
● Continuous sobriety (generally four years or more) to be eligible for election to the position.
● Needs to have time and energy to fulfill the job duties
● Is a member in good standing in a District 7 Home group
- Term Length: 2 year
- Suggested Length of Sobriety: 4 Years
Public Information Chair (PI)
Public information (P.I.) in Alcoholics Anonymous means carrying the message of recovery to the still-suffering alcoholic by informing the general public about the A.A. program. We carry the message by getting in touch with and responding to the media, schools, industry, and other organizations which can report on the nature and purpose of AA and what it can do for alcoholics
The P.I. chair reports to Districts 7 and receives their annual budget from District
Qualifications:
● Suggested minimum continuous sobriety of 2 years
● The PI Chair is a member in good standing of a District 7 Home group
● General service knowledge is an asset, i.e. previous (GSR experience)
● An understanding of the Traditions, and how they relate to P.I. work
● AREA 79 PI Chair communications is suggested
- Term Length: 2 year
- Suggested Length of Sobriety: 2 Years
Treatment and Accessibility
To carry the message to alcoholics in treatment facilities
-make the A.A. message available to members with diverse accessibility needs.
Qualifications:
● Suggested minimum continuous sobriety of 2 years
● The Treatment Chair is a member in good standing of a District 7 Home group
● General service knowledge is an asset, i.e. previous (GSR experience)
● An understanding of the Traditions
● AREA 79 Treatment Chair communications is suggested
